My Background
- I am currently a full-time Executive and Life Coach. I have been Director of two successful companies, been a consultant to many top businesses and served on several representative bodies and government committees. I have therefore an in depth knowledge of how both public and private sector organizations operate.
- At a personal level I have had both successes and failures. In my earlier career, my search for “success” put severe strain on my health (physical and mental), on my wife, my 5 kids and my work colleagues. So, I have in-depth experience of re-examining one's life to create self-awareness, to refocus, to generate new, more meaningful visions and goals so that one can re-define success and then live the life one wants to.
- Until 2005 I had a very successful 20 year career in business, as a partner in a consultancy / mentoring business, providing services to the Agrifood industry in Ireland, the UK and Middle East.
- I received an OBE from the British government in 2004 for services to that Industry.
- During that time I was an active Committee member of and President of many representative organizations including the Northern Ireland Veterinary Association. I also served on many government committees, including a UK advisory committee on Food Standards.
- Prior to that I had a successful 10 year career at a government Agricultural Research Institute where I received a PhD in Nutritional Disorders and published more than 100 scientific articles.
- Before that I was a veterinarian working in farm-animal practice in Ireland for 2 years, then on a UK aid programme, as a consultant to the government of El Salvador for 4 years.
- Our successful business was sold in 2004 to a FTSE 100 company, Associated British Foods. I still consult to the business as an Executive Coach for both their internal and external executives.
- I now work full-time as a qualified Executive / Life Coach motivating and inspiring individuals, executives, teams and organizations to realise their potential in all areas of their work and their lives.
- My Executive clients work in both the private and public sectors.
- I regard my scientific training as having formed only part of my education. I have been influenced over the past 15 years by many who were formerly considered to be “on the fringes” of lifestyle and of business development. Fortunately, they are now considered mainstream. Consequently, I have incorporated some of their philosophies into my coaching techniques:, Myles Downey, Robert Hargrove, Peter Block, Ken Wilber, Deepak Chopra and Peter Senge to name but a few.
